So Cool! They made Butter!!

Each day I pick Inwe up at school I get the items out of her cubby as she gathers her coat and lunchbox. Usually I reach in to find artwork, letters of the alphabet colored or glued upon, or a newsletter. Today I pulled out a baby food jar containing a white blob surrounded by a small bit of liquid. As I inspected it, Inwe's teacher said, "It's butter."

"Really?" I asked. "You put cream in the jars and had the kids shake them."

"We did."

Inwe interrupted, "We sang a song as we shook it."

Inwe's teacher added, "We ate the butter on crackers for snack."

"That's so great," I told the teacher.

Don't you think it is cool to have a four year-old preschool class make butter? I'm so pleased. With our pre-packaged, pre-sliced, diced, and cut up world of food, it's nice to have Inwe see that you can make something on your own. So neat.

Oh, she spread some on bread for Larien when she got home.

I also think the butter makeing in a four year old school is an exceptional experience for the student and cudo's for the teacher. You could possibly have another exceptional experience should ever run out of butter at home. Dad
