Teaching Inwe to Read

Inwe likes to tell us when we are reading to her at night, "I know how to read. I can read this book." Like many kids this age, she knows the story, but not all the words. Her memory is really great, but she doesn't know how to read.

I asked her if she wanted to learn how to read. She said she would. So I got a book called Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. We are on lesson number 11 right now, and she's doing well. She even asks to do a reading lesson on most days.

One fun part is when Larien decides to join us. She does the sounding out and repeating of words. It's really very cute.
