It has been a while since the girls and I made cookies together, and due to the cloudy day I chose this day. (And, it can't hurt that the smell of baked cookies will banish all thoughts of skunk smells.)
Inwe decided that she wanted to make chocolate chip cookies. I wanted sugar cookies, but I was out voted by Larien agreeing with Inwe on the cookie type. The girls helped me gather all the ingredients, and also helped put the ingredients in the bowl. The one hurdle was keeping the girls' fingers out of the different ingredients. Have you ever wanted to taste flour? Me, neither, but my children did. They even tasted the shortening (trans fat free and organic), which completely grossed me out. I can handle them tasting the sugar and the butter, but shortening? ICK!
I let the girls lick the beaters, and once the cookies were cooled they each ate a few. I say a few because I lost count. Needless to say, my daughters had cookies for lunch. Dessert (their term, not mine) was cheese and fruit; banana for Inwe and grapes for Larien.
