Phill: I can't find their shoes. Well, I have one of Inwe's running shoes, and one of Larien's pink shoes.
SB: Which pink shoes?
P: The play shoes.
SB: If you mean the Barbie shoes, the real ones, the ones that fit her were last outside by the sandbox. The one shoe you have is one that doesn't fit her anymore, and both girls end up bringing it down the stairs. As for Inwe's running shoes, she put them in the basket when she got home yesterday, so that's the only place I can tell you to look. See if it fell behind the basket under the curtain.
P: They are ready except for the shoes.
SB: Okay. Good Job.
The next conversation was when I was waiting to get blood work.
P: Hey, how much longer?
SB: I'm getting my blood drawn now and then I have to meet with the nurse.
P: Well, we are here. (Cue Larien making noise in the background in Phill's lab/office.)
SB: Did you bring a drink and a snack, diapers?
P: Yes on the diapers, but I didn't think you'd be that long so no snack or juice.
SB: Okay.
P: How are we going to work this when you are done? (Slight hint of desperation in husband's voice)
SB: I will call you when I'm near your building. It won't be too long. There isn't much left to do.
P: Okay. Call me.
When I called to tell Phill that I was pulling up in front of his building his response was: "Great!" followed by an immediate hang up. I got the sense he was running out of the office at that exact moment to meet me downstairs.
What did Larien do when she saw me? Waved and said, "Hello Mommy!"
A bit later she asked, "Can you get me some juice?"

I can totally picture Pan running down the stairs in a wave of undeniable joy and relief only to remember that his daughters are slowly winding their way down the staircase and he is virtually at the door.....Oops !
