My good friend, Mika-Minnie, came to visit from Durham, NC this weekend. (The name is an alias based on what Larien and Inwe called her.) Were my girls shy? Not at all. Of course, I had prepared them by showing pictures of Mika-Minnie and I when we first met each other about 6 years ago.
Mika-Minnie had met Inwe before, but this was her first acquaintance with Larien. The reason for the visit: to meet my second child before my third was born. Did we do anything special? Not really. The entire weekend was spent talking, playing with the girls, and lounging around. That's about all I feel comfortable doing at this stage of my pregnancy. Not the best for a hostess, but that's what I could do.
Mika-Minnie was wonderful with both girls. Inwe had her coloring little mermaids and worms. It is no exaggeration to say that Larien had Mika-Minnie standing at the sink playing with water and bubbles for an hour. She helped put together puzzles, build a lego block rainbow, and had her drinks attacked by Larien. I honestly don't think Mika-Minnie had a drink the entire weekend without Larien inserting a straw for blowing bubbles, a hand for extracting ice, or a small cup for mining liquid. Can you tell Mika-Minnie is a mother of two? We had a lovely time, and I'm so grateful that Mika-Minnie took the time to visit us.
