What do a wooden spoon and a long yellow plastic spoke have in common?

Both are pretend magic wands.

Larien is very frightened by the Harry Potter movies. She's only seen bits of the first movie, but when Inwe asks to see a Harry Potter movie Larien states loudly, "No Harry Potter!" She saw the troll in the bathroom scene and was put off by that.

Inwe is a different case. She loves watching the Harry Potter movies. Yes, she's seen the third one, Prisoner of Azkaban. The dementors do not bother her at all. She sits in Phill's lap and watches intently. She presses the pause button if she has a question.

Just after Christmas, Inwe got one of my wooden cooking spoons and ran around the house shaking it at things. Phill was the one who figured out what she was doing. Larien pulled out a part from her tricycle (It's like one of the old Big Wheels) and began imitating Inwe. Phill and I decided to teach her some of the magic words. So, Inwe says, "Wingardium leviosa. Do you feel like you are floating, Mommy?" Larien manages to get out "Levosa. I'm flying. See me flying, Mommy?"
