This morning Inwe, Larien, and I went to the open house at Charlottesville Day School. CDS is a new school that will open in the fall. It will have 2-4 year old preschool classes plus K-2 elementary grades. Both girls will be attending if we stay here in C'ville.
Today was really great for me as parent because I got to meet the teachers. These ladies and one man (the movement teacher) appear to be wonderful. I enjlyed talking to them about their teaching backgrounds and their approach to elementary and preschool aged children. Nearly all of them have a Master's degree.
Best of all was watching the interaction of the teachers with my daughters and other children. Each one of the teachers could engage the children and keep their attention. Plus, the elementary teachers instantly pegged Inwe as gifted. I quote one of the teachers, "Oh, I'm looking forward to having her in my class."
