(Picture me jumping up and down happily and giving Inwe a big hug.)
So, I was reading some of the blogs of friends, and I saw that my friend had added a few links in her blog about their adoption story. I clicked on the one labeled Learning to Read and found this.
It took just a few minutes of playing around the reading part of this site to ask Inwe to come over and take a look. Pretty soon, Larien was on my left knee, Finwe as in my left arm, Inwe was on my right knee, and my right hand was manipulating the mouse to take us through three movies, two books, and four pronunciation games. Inwe was hooked on the clicking to sound out the words. Larien even got to play a little by telling me which letter was a "t" or "m" or such items like that.
The best part of the books is that the pages are animated. And, when you click to turn the page the computer voice reminds you of the dominant vowel sound for that story. I was content on just getting Inwe to read the first book when she asked to read another one. Whooo HOOOOOOOO!
Inwe has satisfied her requirement of reading a book once a day already. She'll probably ask tomorrow to read a BOB book or read a book on the computer.
And although I hate to admit it, I was being way too obsessive about completing the reading book. We'll get there. It is still the best teaching method I've found, and it works. When Inwe forgets how wacked out her mommy got about that book, we'll get back to it.
****Update*****
When Phill came home I opened up the site just to show him. Inwe and Larien both ended up on my lap for the next half hour doing some of the interactive alphabet activities. Larien was very upset when I had to stop to feed Finwe.

I checked out the website and it looks like I'll visit it again with my 3 year old daughter. She is learning her letters and sounds and likes books so hopefully reading will be the next step!

I am so glad that you liked this website! I learned about it through an adoption forum for older children.
