The Trouble with Water

Swim lesson day for Larien. Inwe is on spring break (from preschool, they need time off from the pressure) so she had to stay in the kid zone with Finwe while I frolicked in the warm water pool with Larien. Inwe wasn't happy about not being able to go in the pool. I'll have to make it up to her another day when there is family time and there aren't elderly ladies doing physical therapy in the therapy pool.

Swim class was great. We kicked, sang songs like the Hokey Pokes, and worked on arm strokes (just freestyle). It was time to practice blowing bubbles, so I decided to be bold. I demonstrated to Larien taking a big breath and then going completely under water to blow out the bubbles. I asked her if she wanted to do it. She nodded her head. I counted to three, took a big breath, and took us under the water. I opened my eyes under the water so I could see what Larien was doing. There she was blowing out bubbles, happy as a mermaid, but with eyes closed. She was so thrilled to be doing the under water thing that we did it five more times.

Towards the end of class, the instructor pushed Larien to me in such a way that she again went under the water. Larien blew bubbles and kicked her way to me.

So, what's the trouble with water?
  1. Damp, moist skin is the perfect environment for the fungus causing the spots on her skin.
  2. Bath time now lasts an hour. I am not exaggerating. AN HOUR!Well, she's clean. Really clean.
