A good day, but give me The Wiggles

Today was a good day. It was a busy day. There was no nap for the girls, but this is not upsetting. They were both in bed by 8pm. (Please note, the husband is working late tonight, so I had all three by myself. I know turtletoes will rejoice with me.)

What made the day good was excellent behavior and something different to do with friends. TWAPilot and her sons, Cirdan and Findarato, made reservations for us to see a childrens' show at a local high school. I got five car seats in the van and off we went. Five kids under five in a minivan can be incredibly loud. Do not attempt this if you are cranky, have a headache, or dislike children. You would not survive.

The group was The Babobsons, and I can only say that this group wants to be like The Wiggles. They are local, and there were three other performers: a woman singing cute songs with audience participation; a comedic magician (I quite liked him); and dancers from The Wilson School of Dance.

When the first woman singing asked for a volunteer to come sing with her both Inwe and Larien got up and sang Itsy Bitsty Spider with her. They really sang. Such bold daughters.

Inwe really found the magician funny and amazing. I didn't know what Larien's reaction was because she was firmly planted on TWAPilot's lap. (Larien adores TWAPilot.)

Larien's opinion of the ballet dancers was clear, "I really like the dancing. That's beautiful." Inwe was less impressed and wasn't even upset that we goofed about the day and missed her ballet class. Costumes were being handed out today, and we missed it. I'm definitely not signing Inwe up for more ballet lessons. She's just not invested in them. And, that's okay.

The Babobson's were okay. I wasn't thrilled, but they did get the kids dancing, counting, and interacting with them. I've seen a Wiggles concert, and those men can perform. I had fun. I even think Phill had fun. I seem to remember a two-year old Inwe having fun as well. Larien was just three months old, so she was just exisiting then.

Because Larien had no nap, she was wiped out and just couldn't stay in the group of kids on the floor of the theater. She found me dancing in the back with Finwe and announced, "I need to go now, Mommy. I'm hungry." She didn't mean that she had to go potty; she wanted to leave. Luckily, the group was through performing. We rounded up the kids and walked them to the van.

Only Finwe fell asleep on the way home. Cirdan nearly did; Findarato displayed his exhaustion by constantly talking. Larien snacked on some bag of goodies that she had stashed next to her seat, and Inwe sat quietly watching the scenery.

I got the kids some quick dinner and set them in front of Sponge Bob Square Pants so I could get Finwe packaged and taken care of for the night. By 7pm, we were upstairs brushing teeth, donning gowns, and reading books*. By 8pm, the girls were tucked in bed. Finwe followed half an hour later.

So, it was a good day. We've had a lot of good days lately.

*The reading list for the night:
  1. Love and Kisses
  2. Knuffle Bunny
  3. Going on a Bear Hunt
  4. Friendship is Sweet-a Beauty and the Beast story
  5. Goodnight Gorilla
