Swimming!

Let me begin by saying that I adore our gym, which should really consider itself a country club without the golf course. This place is super awesome. The childcare is great, which means that I can get exercise and not worry about the quality of care. The facilities are amazing. In addition to the outside pool (opening at the end of this month), but the inside aquatic center is really great.

Tonight Phill and I decided to take the girls in the warm water pool for family time. We put Finwe in the KidZone. We just weren't sure we could handle all three of them at the same time. In fact, our reason for dedicating Friday nights to swimming is so that I can handle the three of them at the outdoor pool this spring and summer. We have to get Inwe more comfortable in the pool.

Larien is already a water freak. She loves it. It was nice that Phill got to experience the water juggernaut that is Larien. He gave her a swim noodle and just hovered around her. She dog-paddled around for an hour. She didn't want to get out, but she relented after we explained to her that we would come back again if she was nice about leaving.

Inwe went from frantic clinging to my body to telling me "Don't touch me!" in about half an hour. This amazed me as she had not been in a pool since August. We worked on kicking, floating, using her arms, jumping off the side, getting completely under the water, and most importantly getting herself to the steps or the side. At the end she was holding onto a kickboard or noodle and propelling herself by kick wherever she wanted. She really impressed me.

As we were leaving the gym, Inwe said, "I'm hungry. Pancakes sound good for dinner." I agreed and began making sure I had everything in the kitchen for a good breakfast dinner. Phill spoke up, "Waffle House!" I eyed Finwe to guage whether he could make the hour for a dinner out and decided that he could.

Now, I smell like grease, but both girls demolished the waffle and the bacon. It was a good evening.

What a fun evening! I can't wait until the water park near our house opens at the end of May. Last summer we spent so many days swimming....boy, those were good days!
