Water Toss

Today was another swim lesson for Larien. She's gone from not wanting to finish a class to actually whining when it was time for the class to end today. A few notable events happenend in today's class.
  • "I want Carrie!" was her favorite phrase. Carrie is the instructor. So for nearly half the class I did not have my daughther. I worked out the sore muscles from yoga yesterday. There are some advantages to having the class in the warm water.
  • While working on teaching Larien to reach and swim for the sides of the pool, she went completely underwater. This did not phase her. Upon clearing the water out of her eyes, she said matter-of-factly, "I just went all the way under."
  • There are two girls who are just a bit over a year of age who are really into the water. Carrie was tossing them to their mothers (one at a time, of course). Larien saw this and asked if she could participate. Tossing a 28 pound two year old is a bit more challenging, but we did it. Four times. Larien loved it. We let her get under the water as well. It was totally awe inspiring.
Needless to say, I'll do one more month with Larien. Carrie said she would put in a recommendation to have Larien take the 3-4 year old class eventhough she doesn't make the age cut-off. Next up for swim lessons? Finwe. We'll have to wait for summer with Inwe. School gets in the way.
