A bit earlier today Inwe (that's the four year old) gave me a response to my request that I did not like. I use the 1-2-3 Magic method for discipline, so I said, "That's 1."
She said it again; this time louder. My response, "That's 2."
Three is a charm, so she said it again. I responded with, "That's 3. Take a time out."
"What did I do?" Inwe was seriously asking me what she had done. She didn't get it.
"You sassed me back." And as that phrase left my mouth my brain screamed at me, Oh my god, you did not just say that! But, I had said it. Somehow my four year old, who to my knowledge had never heard the phrase, appeared to understand.
