It works out perfectly that there are plenty of school buses on the road whne we take Inwe to school. Inwe gets into the "School Bus" spotting as well. I decided to turn it into a teaching moment.
We now count the school buses, in English and Spanish. Why in both languages? One of my regrets is that I cannot speak another language (Latin doesn't count.). I'd like my children to speak two languages. The rule is that at least two people have to see the school bus. Both Inwe and Larien like to spot school buses that aren't really there. That's why we have the two people rule.
The school bus count:
- Monday-10
- Tuesday-8
- Wednesday-14 plus 2 (as Inwe says)
- Thursday-8

okay so we don't tackle the spanish part but Idril is also fascinated with school buses and counting them on the way into daycare. However she also get distracted by bulldozers and other earth-moving equipment ("excabators" as she calls them) and will throw them in with the school bus count.
My nephew had the fasination with cranes! Construction sites with large cranes were really interesting and easy to see from his position in the car seat.
