The Love/Hate Relationship with Swim Lessons

Larien had her swimming lesson today--like all Tuesday mornings. Here are my loves and hates regarding this day.

Love
  • She is very enthusiastic.
  • She is fearless of the water.
  • She listens.
  • She tries new things.
  • She is happy while in the water.
  • She is motivated to get better.
  • She eats very well after swim lesson. Her frequent request is a fruit cup from the gym cafe.
  • Knowing how to swim is important.
Hate
  • She is overly enthusiastic and can get out of control.
  • She is headstrong frequently saying, "No!"
  • She is fearless of the water.
  • She tries new things--sometimes without warning me.
  • She is very unhappy when the lessons are over and the elderly ladies shove us out of the warm physical therapy pool.
  • She has perfected the fake cry and pitching it so that it carries across the three pools in the aquatic center.
She's a good kid really. I love her. I will also continue to take her to swim lessons until she can do it all on her own.

Inwe's lessons begin in June. She'll be kicking @$$ by then.
