Well, I suppose it could be intimidating if you didn't have a daughter like Inwe. For me, it was just a time to talk to her teacher, Mechelle. For you, I'll give you the highlights of the actual evaluation of Megan.
- Verbal/Knowledge development: Inwe is at the level or above everyone in the class. Inwe is the youngest child in the class. Some of the students turned four when Inwe turned three. Her teacher said her vocabulary is 1000 words or more. My guess is more, but I've lost count. Inwe uses the word perhaps.
- Gross Motor Skills: Here Inwe is about the same as the class.
- Fine Motor Skills: Inwe already displays a preference for her right hand when writing her name, cutting, and other fine motor skills. Typical hand preference begins around 4. Inwe does a great job writing her name and can also write a few other words, one being Larien's name.
- Social Skills: Besides the first five minutes after either Phill or I leave her at class, Inwe fits right in the class, has many friends, and interacts with everyone appropriately. Mechelle was particularly impressed with how Inwe pretends.
Between Mechelle and I, we are comfortable with Inwe rising to the next class in the same preschool for the fall. This will mean that she will be ready for kindergarten although not in public school. This county makes no exceptions if a child was born after September 30th. I suppose we better start saving now for private school.
Larien--she's great. She ate 20 strawberries, not washed, sometimes with the caps on, but she's getting the hang on whipping those off as well. We'll be going to the grocery store tomorrow to get more ice cream and whipping cream. Both of them are keyed up at the prospect of a strawberry milkshake.
And, I'm sure you noticed that I can now post pictures to the blog. Now, if I can only get my digital camera to work I'll take some new pictures. I may just buy a new one as my current one was bought nearly six years ago and doesn't have the best resolution for the pictures. Overstock.com here I come.
