Today was the second of four swim lessons for Inwe. Yesterday was a bit of a trial keeping Larien happy while trying to get Inwe to pay attention to her teacher Lizzie. Today, Inwe was more attentive to her teacher and more willing to participate as it was warmer than yesterday. Luckily, Larien decided that she was hot as well and that the water would cool her down. So she played in a neighboring shallow pool while Inwe floated, kicked, and used her arms. Larien's favorite thing to do is to sing "Ring Around the Rosy" and fall down in the pool.
Back to Inwe. At the end of each lesson, the three swim students jump twice into the pool. The first time for Inwe today was with assistance. The second time the teacher asked Inwe to try it on her own. (The teacher was right there so the situation wasn't really scary.) Inwe jumped, went completely under the water, popped back up, and mildly bonked her head on the edge of the pool. I was prepared for some crying or whining, but all Inwe said was, "Can I get my towel?" The teacher said yes. Inwe wiped her face with the towel and headed back to the pool. "Oh, sweetie, you're done for the day. You did a great job," said the teacher.
Could you be more proud of Inwe? Not me at that moment. The jumping in by herself was a big moment, getting completely submerged, and my girl wanted to go back for more. What a girl! What a girl!
