Fireworks with the Girls

Well, we successfully took both girls to see the local fireworks display for Independence Day. The display didn't begin until 9:30pm, about half an hour after the girls' latest bedtime. To help both of them stay up later, we moved their nap time later which seemed to help. We also dressed them both in pajamas just in case they fell asleep on the way home.

Instead of going to the park where the day long celebration was held, we choose another park not too far from the display. We did this so that we could leave when the girls needed to go to bed. If we had gone to the display park, we would have had to rely on the transport buses to remote parking lots. That was not our idea of convenience with two children who had never seen fireworks before. Other people had the same idea, so we were in good company.

Inwe and Larien enjoyed the fireworks. Inwe said some of them looked like hair or water. She noticed that orange wasn't one of the colors. Larien thought a few of the fireworks looked like apples, and she continually commented on the colors. Both of them clapped when they saw one that was really big or exploded multiple times. They didn't make oohs or aahs, but said "Wow" quite a bit.

The fireworks were so much fun that they didn't fall asleep on the way home. They did go right to sleep when we put them in bed at 10:15pm. Upon waking this morning, Inwe said, "The fireworks were really nice, Mommy. Thank you for taking us."

We saw the fireworks from the highway as we drove home from a dinner party with Mango Salsa and family. Baby Salsa could be heard clapping as the fireworks went off. How do I know if I was on the highway ? Because they called us to let us "hear" the fireworks. I love these kids !
