Craft Time

During one week in April Inwe's preschool focused on sea creatures. One day she brought home a sea star covered in rice. I thought this was pretty cool because sea stars are echinoderms, which means spiny skin. So, part of my teaching that day to Inwe was to tell her what echinoderm meant.

Fast forward to Monday. Inwe's sea star was eaten by White Dragon, who had found it hiding out in Inwe's room. I'm impressed that the thing--covered in food--made it a month. Inwe was upset and wanted to keep the small pieces she found around the house. I told her that we could make another one. This is what we did yesterday.

We used couscous and brown rice. Inwe used the brown rice in the middle and the couscous on the arms. We have put this one on a door way up high so that White Dragon doesn't go snacking again. Posted by Picasa

Look at that very serious expression. No smiles of delight here.
